What’s the difference between DTV and HDTV?

Although DTV (or ‘digital TV’) sounds similar to HDTV (or ‘High Definition TV’), they are not. The best way to understand the differences between them is to know what they do. Digital means the TV is no longer transmitted by antenna (meaning analog); it is now transmitted digitally. Digital television provides better quality pictures and sound. HDTV (or High Definition Television) just means a much better grade of digital television. The quality of sound and picture are now in ‘high-definition,’ which means they are more lifelike.

So while the quality of digital is good, the quality of High Definition is much better. But you must first have digital television (DTV) before you can upgrade to High Definition Television (HDTV).

There are several variables that must happen before you can get HDTV. First the television program itself must be available in ‘high definition.’ You must have:

• a digital signal
• a television set with high-definition capabilities
• a cable or satellite provider that offers HDTV

The good news is, if you are an OmniTel Cable TV subscriber and you have a television set with high-definition capabilities, you can get HDTV.

Who can advertise on Channel 12?

Anyone. Non-profit and Community Sponsored Events are encouraged, welcomed and FREE!

Personal and Business ads are also welcome. These are a relatively inexpensive way to reach over 3,000 viewers in the North Iowa Area.

How much does it cost to advertise on Channel 12?

Non-profit and Community Sponsored messages will be created, produced and aired for FREE.

Personal and Business messages will be created and produced for FREE (there is a one-time $5 fee to scan a photo) with a cost to air on Channel 12. All Political Advertising must include “Paid for by ______”

One-Day Rate: $5 for the first day; $2 each additional day
Weekend Special: (Thursday – Monday) $10
Funeral Announcement: $5 per visitation/funeral information
Weekly Ad: (7 Consecutive Days) $15
Monthly: 30 Days $55
Annual: 12 months $225

For your convenience, if you are an OmniTel Customer, we can add the cost of Channel 12 advertising to your OmniTel bill. Otherwise, we will bill you directly.
